Hi everyone! I'm Deborah

Welcome to Empower Fitness-Faith! I just want to take a moment to share with you some cool info and say thank you so much!! For letting me help you ☺ our workout meetings encourage me just as much as they encourage you.

First off, I would like to share with you why I felt called to becoming a personal trainer.I was first attracted to weight lifting when I was 10, living in southern California. I remember riding my bike in my subdivision on a sunny summer day and meeting a couple who were obviously bodybuilders. They looked amazing! They looked like warriors and they had a glow of health about them that I had never seen before. I wanted to be like them when I grew up. In 5th grade my teacher inspired me. She competed on the old TV show “American Gladiators,” which was kind of like an old school “American Ninja Warrior” but with bodybuilders. She didn’t drive to work every day, she ran, and pulled a wagon behind her with her young son riding along. She was so positive and full of life! I also wanted to be like her when I grew up. Fast forward to high school and I took my first weight lifting class. I got to experience this discipline firsthand and was quickly hooked. I had my share of ups and downs with early adulthood … unexpected pregnancy and broken marriage…weight gained, energy and vitality lost in dark depression…but I never lost the love of feeling strong. After getting divorced, I lost 60 lbs in about 6 months through heavy weight lifting and high intensity interval training (HIIT). It was not easy, but it was worth it.

Being able to lift heavy weights not only makes your muscles stronger, it transforms your mind, your feelings, your mood, and your self-worth. There’s something about pushing your muscles to the limit that completely empowers you inside and out, and births in you a renewed sense of well-being that I believe, can never be taken from you.

This is why I became a personal trainer and started Empower Fitness-Faith. I want to teach other women what I have learned and open a world to them that most don’t know exists. A world where a woman can feel empowered to handle anything that’s thrown at her. Where she can shine confidence because she feels strong and valuable. Where she can take care of her family and take care of herself.

This strength, life, joy, and vitality I’m speaking of is available to anyone, no matter what level of fitness or health. With the right tools and teaching, and a mustard seed sized faith, any woman can do this. All it takes is a first step ☺

Strength + Cardio = Dominance

As an MMA conditioning coach I understand that combat fighters are some of the best conditioned athletes in the world. The intensity of a fight is non-stop and one mistake can lead to defeat.

Developing peak overall physical condition is the ultimate goal while training for power, explosiveness, strength, speed, agility and muscular endurance.

This is where metabolic conditioning workouts step up to the plate and deliver.

You don’t need to be an MMA athlete to gain the benefits from these workouts. This type of training has become popular with fitness enthusiasts who want to improve their VO2 max, strength, power, and agility while burning fat and building lean muscle.

What Are Metabolic Conditioning Workouts?

Metabolic conditioning workouts use exercises that burn lots of calories during your workout and keep the body burning calories after your workout ends. They usually involve the entire body, short periods of rest and are designed to push the limits of your body to build strength and endurance while getting toned. My workouts are a mixture of burpee variations with strength, plyometric, core and abs movements.

These metabolic circuits will help you improve your overall fitness – using your Bodyweight, Kettlebells, Dumbbells, Medicine Balls, Stability Balls, TRX, and Sandbags to jack up your metabolism, burn body fat and improve your overall work capacity.

The bi-product is usually a strong, lean and ripped body.

Finally metabolic circuits will test you mentally and push you to your physical limits. Be prepared for battle and DO NOT QUIT!

When you say “IT'S HARD”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive! - Deb

Ultimately, success in fitness requires a deeper motivation beyond the exterior, and a focus on the interior. The most powerful intrinsic motivators on the planet are autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Self-direction, creativity, and the ability to make a meaningful difference require the right foundation. That purpose may be sparked through the inspiration of others, or honed through deep-rooted self will, but even such motivators like being a better mother or a healthier husband have limitations. But faith isn’t confined by human and physical barriers. Boundless inspiration is found in the all-ness of God.

Faith Keeps You Going When the Going Gets Tough

The reality of a life in sport and fitness is fraught with obstacles, from injuries to plateaus to flat out losing your mojo. There are days you don’t have it, there are slumps you will go through, and there are injuries to contend with. Faith is what keeps you going.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.
- Isaiah 40:31
